the meaning is that sherrif bell decided to retire because he was not able to keep up with the changing society; the meaning of the dream was to portray that his father was telling him to retire and that it was ok. There is great sadness here as bell realises that society has changed and is more evil, the bad guys sometimes will never get caught. This relates to the title "no country for old men" ... bell is the "old man". great film by the way. [2]

I just read the book and about 95% of it is in the movie--every great line and scene is in the book even though it sounds exactly like the sort of stuff the Cohen's would come up with. That includes not showing Moss's death and the final scene with Tommy Lee Jones.

the message was not that complex or hidden, flat out it was not THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!!! it was okay and i loved Javier and Brolin but I def didnt not think it was oscar worthy..personally
