EDIT: The engine has about 250HP but 350 ft/lb of torque. Torque also plays a big factor on the way it accelerates.

They really dont make that much power stock (compared to todays HP ratings). Its the gearing in the transmission and rear axle that enable the GN to accelerate the way it does. My friend has an '84 (non-intercooled) and that is fast as is, the '87 is a bit quicker because of the intercooler. GN's are fast!

I am not a Grand National person, but what kind of power do they make? I mean for a v6 I would not image anything to be so quick

i wouldnt say "no viper can". unless your speaking of both in their stock forms.
